S-5! has introduced a formal Environmental, Social and Governance policy alongside a Modern Slavery Statement, marking a structured step to embed sustainability, ethics, and oversight into its business operations. The announcement reflects the company’s intent to align internal practices with the values it supports through its role in the solar sector.
Dan Belling, Director of Special Projects at S-5!, said the company sees responsibility as extending beyond product performance. He emphasized that sustainability must be reflected in day-to-day operations and decision-making, particularly as S-5! supports solar projects where reliability and integrity are critical.
Energy use and operational footprint
S-5! currently offsets around 80 percent of energy consumption across its facilities in Texas and Colorado Springs. The company plans to expand on-site solar generation at its Iowa Park, Texas location in 2026, a move that would bring it close to net-neutral energy use.
In addition to generation, the company uses its own rooftops as testing environments for new attachment designs and installation methods. This approach allows S-5! to validate performance in real-world conditions while supporting ongoing product refinement.
Environmental practices embedded in manufacturing
The ESG policy outlines measures aimed at reducing environmental impact across operations. These include energy-efficient manufacturing, extensive use of highly recyclable aluminum, structured recycling and scrap sorting processes, water conservation, and greater reliance on solar-powered energy at company sites.
According to Belling, sustainability for S-5! is tied closely to responsible manufacturing and continuous innovation, reinforcing the company’s long-standing emphasis on durability and long product lifecycles.

Supply chain ethics and modern slavery oversight
As part of its ESG framework, S-5! has adopted a Modern Slavery Statement that establishes zero tolerance for forced labor and human trafficking. The statement also defines supplier engagement and assessment practices intended to promote ethical standards across relevant parts of the supply chain.
The company noted that growing engagement with large, publicly listed global customers has increased expectations around governance and social responsibility. These demands have expanded internationally, including compliance requirements related to modern slavery that first emerged during S-5!’s expansion into the Australian market.
Independent assurance and ongoing review
To strengthen accountability, S-5! engaged Bureau Veritas to conduct an independent audit using a 250-checkpoint assessment. Following the audit, the company instituted quarterly internal reviews with key stakeholders to track compliance and respond to evolving regulatory and customer requirements.

Preparing for the next phase of sustainability reporting
Looking ahead, S-5! is preparing to develop an Environmental Product Declaration, a lifecycle-based assessment designed to quantify and compare carbon footprint metrics. The company described the EPD process as one of the most rigorous sustainability benchmarks in the market and a key step in increasing transparency for customers and partners.
S-5! has made its ESG policy and Modern Slavery Statement publicly available through the Sustainability section of its website, positioning the framework as a foundation for responsible growth as expectations around ESG performance continue to rise.
