Viridi Energy Funds Tornado Recovery Grant for Wisconsin Community

Viridi Energy is supporting residents of the Town of Ringle in Marathon County, Wisconsin, recovering from tornadoes that struck the region on April 17, 2026, through a community relief grant administered by the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin. The grant will reimburse individuals and families for tipping fees incurred while disposing of tornado-damaged debris and property at the Marathon County Solid Waste Department. No specific grant amount was disclosed.

 

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-3 tornado with winds approaching 140 mph struck Weston, Ringle and surrounding communities, damaging approximately 75 homes and requiring repair or rebuilding at nearly 150 properties. The storms blocked roads with fallen trees and debris and caused power outages affecting thousands of residents, though the community avoided fatalities.

Viridi owns and operates its Marathon Renewable Natural Gas facility, co-located with the Marathon County Solid Waste Department, in the same region affected by the tornadoes. Chief executive Dan Crouse said, "Our Marathon facility is more than a project to us—it's part of a community that our employees and their families call home." He added, "When the tornadoes struck, this wasn't a tragedy happening somewhere else. Family members of our own employees were impacted, and some lost their homes entirely." Dylan Trittin, a plant operator at the Marathon facility whose own family lost their home in the storms, said, "This community has always looked out for one another, and after the storms, that spirit became even more evident."

 

The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin will administer the program and distribute grants directly to eligible Ringle residents. Crouse said, "Strong communities are built on neighbors helping neighbors," adding that the company is "grateful to partner with the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin and Marathon County whose trusted local leadership ensures these funds reach the families who need them most."
