Colorado Springs Seeks Public Input on 2026 Housing and Community Development Plan

Colorado Springs Seeks Public Input on 2026 Housing and Community Development Plan

The City of Colorado Springs is inviting residents to share feedback on how federal housing and community development funds should be allocated in the coming year. The city’s Housing and Homelessness Response Department has opened a public comment process for the draft 2026 Annual Action Plan, which directs funding toward low- and moderate-income communities.

Public Hearing Details

A public hearing on the draft plan is scheduled for Wednesday, January 7, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the City Administration Building at 30 South Nevada Avenue, Room 102. Community members who are unable to attend in person can also participate online or by phone, with access details available on the city’s website.

What the Annual Action Plan Covers

The Annual Action Plan sets priorities, programs, and funding allocations for the upcoming program year. It outlines how resources will be used to address key local needs, including affordable housing, homelessness response and prevention, neighborhood improvements, and support for community-based organizations.

City officials have emphasized that public input is essential to ensure funding decisions align with the realities faced by residents across Colorado Springs.

Federal Funding Sources

The plan governs the use of several federal funding streams, including the Community Development Block Grant program, the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, and the Emergency Solutions Grant. Together, these programs support housing stability, community development, and services aimed at preventing and addressing homelessness.

Residents are encouraged to review the draft plan and participate in the hearing to help shape how these funds are invested in 2026.
