Vaulted Deep raises $32M to expand its scalable carbon removal technology. The funding will support new injection sites, enhancing its ability to deliver durable solutions to meet rising demand.
Biomass carbon removal startup Vaulted Deep has raised $32 million in a Series A funding round. The funding will boost the company’s efforts to scale its capacity for durable carbon dioxide removal (CDR) through geologic sequestration of carbon-rich organic waste.
Vaulted Deep transforms waste like biosolids, manure, and food scraps into a carbon-rich slurry, injecting it deep underground for permanent storage using proprietary technology. The company leverages its expertise in deep well waste injection, which provides a scalable and long-lasting solution for carbon removal.
Leadership Perspectives
Co-Founder and CEO Julia Reichelstein highlighted the focus on scaling rapidly:
"Rapid scalable deliveries are essential to helping the CDR industry grow in a sustainable and impactful way. With this next round of funding, Vaulted will supercharge on both fronts by developing new wells for more CDR removal — and delivering more tonnes, faster, to meet rising industry demand."
Vaulted Deep’s Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, Omar Abou Sayed, noted the company’s technological foundation and its broad impact:
"The magnitude and pace of Vaulted’s durable carbon removal deliveries stem from decades of experience perfecting our technology in industrial waste management. Our successful Series A accelerates our ability to open new sites across multiple geographies, leveraging proven technology to fill customer demand while delivering benefits beyond carbon removal to our customers and the communities we serve."
Investor Confidence
The Series A funding, led by Prelude Ventures and supported by other investors, underscores confidence in Vaulted’s rapid progress. Matt Eggers, Managing Partner at Prelude Ventures, remarked:
"Vaulted Deep’s rapid progress from seed funding to Series A, from concept to high-volume delivery, demonstrates the immense potential of its approach. We believe Vaulted’s technology can lead the way to durable carbon removal at a meaningful scale."
The funds will support the development of new injection well sites, including Monarch Fields, to meet growing demand. Vaulted Deep has already delivered 7,000 tonnes of CDR and signed a $58 million offtake agreement for additional CO2 removal through 2027.
