Singapore and Brazil Sign MOU to Establish Green and Digital Shipping Corridor

Singapore and Brazil have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the Singapore-Brazil Green and Digital Shipping Corridor, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries on maritime decarbonisation and digitalisation. The agreement was signed by Singapore's Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow and Brazil's Minister of Ports and Airports Tomé Franca.

The partnership pairs each country's distinct strengths within the maritime fuel supply chain: Brazil holds significant renewable energy resources and production capabilities that could support producing zero- and near-zero greenhouse gas emission marine fuels, while Singapore is the world's largest bunkering port and a global hub port with an established innovation ecosystem. Bringing these complementary capabilities together is intended to support development of alternative marine fuel supply chains connecting fuel production capacity in Brazil with the demand and distribution infrastructure Singapore's bunkering position provides.

Beyond fuel supply chains, the two countries will explore digital information exchanges to improve maritime and port operations, and will work with industry to advance research, development and adoption of emerging maritime technologies and solutions.
