TotalEnergies and STMicroelectronics sign France’s first 15-year renewable PPA, supplying 1.5 TWh annually to ST’s sites, advancing its carbon neutrality goals for 2027.
In a first for France, TotalEnergies and STMicroelectronics have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for renewable energy. This groundbreaking collaboration demonstrates both companies' commitment to advancing sustainability and decarbonization.
Under the agreement, TotalEnergies will provide 1.5 terawatt-hours (TWh) of renewable electricity to STMicroelectronics' operations in France, spanning research, development, manufacturing, and sales. The energy will come from two newly developed wind and solar farms, each with a capacity of 75 MW.
Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President of Flexible Power & Integration at TotalEnergies, said:
"We are delighted to sign this agreement with STMicroelectronics, which demonstrates our ability to provide long-term and innovative clean firm power solutions tailored to our customers' needs. This partnership highlights our commitment to supporting tech industry players in their decarbonization efforts."
To ensure a steady and reliable green energy supply, TotalEnergies has implemented innovative services that balance fluctuations caused by weather conditions.
For STMicroelectronics, this PPA is a vital step in achieving its carbon neutrality by 2027, which includes sourcing 100% of its energy from renewable sources. The company has already signed similar agreements in Italy and Malaysia as part of its global renewable energy strategy.
Geoff West, EVP and Chief Procurement Officer at STMicroelectronics, commented:
"This first PPA in France marks another significant step towards ST’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2027. It supports our commitment to sourcing 100% renewable energy and reducing our environmental footprint."
