SUNON has launched a new Green EC fan series designed to meet the European Union's incoming ErP 2026 energy efficiency standards, targeting thermal management for AI data centres and high-density computing environments. The Kaohsiung-based manufacturer's new lineup integrates Modbus-RTU communication and pulse-width modulation speed control, allowing host systems to adjust fan speeds dynamically based on real-time thermal loads rather than running at fixed speeds regardless of actual cooling demand.
The fans support both single-phase 200 to 277 volt AC and three-phase 380 to 480 volt AC power architectures through auto-sensing circuitry, intended to simplify deployment across different regional power grid standards. SUNON also says the motor technology is designed to scale toward 800 volt direct current architectures as AI data centres and high-performance computing platforms transition to that higher-voltage standard, with intended applications extending into HVAC systems, energy storage systems and EV charging stations.

The series is certified to IP55 and IP68 ingress protection ratings, intended for humid commercial refrigeration environments and outdoor energy storage or EV charging applications respectively, and carries EU ATEX gas explosion-proof certification for use in hazardous environments including petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food processing and energy plants. The fans also incorporate SUNON's vertical MagLev motor system paired with high-temperature-resistant VAPO sleeve bearings, which the company says reduces vibration and extends operational lifespan compared to traditional sleeve bearing designs.
SUNON said the new series reflects its ongoing effort to help global customers improve energy efficiency and support low-carbon transformation as the ErP 2026 standard takes effect, positioning the product line within its broader sustainability-focused branding.
