Gravity Launches AI Agent for Sustainability and Energy Teams

Gravity Launches AI Agent for Sustainability and Energy Teams

Gravity has launched the Gravity Agent, an AI agent built for sustainability and energy teams that the company describes as able to perform any action within its carbon and energy management platform that a human user could take. The agent ships with more than 85 built-in skills trained by Gravity's in-house climate and energy experts, covering tasks including migrating historical emissions data, identifying energy cost-saving opportunities, and drafting regulatory disclosures. In early pilots, the company says customers have cut the time needed for these tasks by 70 percent or more, though this figure comes from Gravity's own testing rather than independent verification.

Gravity distinguishes its agent from other sustainability platforms' AI tools by describing it as handling a broad range of tasks and deciding its own steps toward completing them, rather than performing only narrow, discrete functions such as cleaning a spreadsheet or answering data queries. Co-founder and chief technology officer Ted Kornish said Gravity's API-first platform architecture allows the agent to use the software in the same ways a human user can, rather than being limited to a fixed set of predefined actions.

The company built several safeguards into the agent given the stakes involved in carbon accounting and energy reporting. All changes made by the agent require human review and approval before taking effect, every action is logged to keep data audit-ready, and Gravity says it does not train the agent on customer data. Emissions calculations run through the company's existing deterministic calculation engine rather than being generated by the AI model itself, intended to keep results reproducible for sustainability teams and their auditors.

Gravity has also applied its own emissions accounting methodology, which it says it developed as one of the first frameworks for measuring AI-related emissions, to track the footprint of the Gravity Agent itself and to help customers measure emissions associated with their own AI usage. The company plans to continue expanding the agent's skill library in the coming months.
