Solaris Energy Infrastructure has made an equity investment in Deployable Energy and will collaborate on commercialising the company's deployable small modular reactor technology, according to an announcement tied to Solaris's second-quarter 2026 business update. Financial terms of the investment, including the amount and resulting ownership stake, were not disclosed. Solaris said the investment provides early exposure to next-generation nuclear technology and will complement its existing power generation capabilities.
Deployable Energy describes itself as building microreactors engineered for rapid deployment, simple operation and reliable power delivery to locations where traditional grid infrastructure cannot reach, positioning the technology for defense, industrial and digital infrastructure markets facing accelerating demand for reliable, continuous power. Solaris brings experience deploying, operating and maintaining distributed energy infrastructure for mission-critical applications, a capability the companies frame as complementary to Deployable Energy's reactor technology development.

Solaris co-chief executive Bill Zartler referenced Deployable Energy's progress toward what he called "first criticality," the point at which a nuclear reactor achieves a self-sustaining chain reaction, though the release provided no date, technical detail or independent verification of this milestone. Zartler framed the company's approach to avoiding supply chain constraints as a differentiator lending confidence that Deployable Energy could bring next-generation nuclear technology to commercial reality in the relatively near term, a characterisation reflecting Solaris's own assessment as an investor rather than independently confirmed technical validation.
