Pacifico Energy Secures Survey License for 1.3 GW Vietnam Offshore Wind Project

Pacifico Energy Vietnam has received sea survey license approval from Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for development of the up to 1,300 MW Nam Trung Bo 3 offshore wind project in Lam Dong Province. The project is identified in Vietnam's Adjusted Power Development Plan VIII, with commercial operations expected between 2031 and 2035.

 

The license enables Pacifico Energy to conduct technical and environmental studies to evaluate the approved offshore area and establish the project's design basis ahead of subsequent investment and permitting steps. The company will undertake preliminary desktop assessments before launching a detailed field survey campaign across the approved offshore area in 2027, including geotechnical and geophysical surveys, wind measurement, meteorological and oceanographic studies, and environmental baseline surveys.

This approval follows Pacifico Energy's February 2026 sea survey license for the 500 MW Nam Bo PE2.1 offshore wind project in Ho Chi Minh City, together forming a 1.8 GW offshore wind development pipeline for the company in Vietnam. Pacifico Energy Founder and Group Chairman Nate Franklin said the approval "reflects our long-term confidence in Vietnam's offshore wind potential and our commitment to supporting the country's energy security and sustainable growth through development of complex energy infrastructure projects aligned with global best practices." The company said it will continue working with government authorities on policy development, regulatory improvement, and building a bankable framework for offshore wind in Vietnam.
