DP World has launched EcoRoute, a suite of solutions combining network design, lower-carbon logistics, emissions measurement and strategic partnerships to help businesses optimise supply chain performance while reducing emissions, addressing a sector that accounts for approximately 10 percent of global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions. The platform offers four integrated capabilities: optimised supply chain network design balancing cost, speed and emissions; lower-carbon transport solutions through modal shift, alternative fuels and electric vehicles; carbon insetting programmes that reduce emissions within customers' own supply chains; and an ISO 14083-aligned Carbon Emissions Calculator powered by EcoTransIT World providing end-to-end emissions visibility across transport modes. Beat Simon, DP World Group Chief Operating Officer for Logistics, said a well-connected supply chain is a more sustainable one and that EcoRoute helps customers reduce emissions while improving efficiency and resilience by combining connectivity, data and operational expertise across DP World's global network.
Demonstrated Customer Outcomes Across Emerging Markets
The EcoRoute launch is backed by concrete operational case studies demonstrating material emissions and efficiency improvements across DP World's existing customer base. In Africa, through a centralised Logistics Control Tower solution, DP World helped a major retailer increase transported volumes by 45 percent while expanding fleet size by only 5 percent, improving vehicle utilisation to 88 percent and delivering simultaneous gains in operational efficiency and supply chain resilience. This case demonstrates that network optimisation can decouple volume growth from proportional fleet expansion, reducing the carbon intensity of logistics operations without requiring customers to sacrifice throughput or service reliability.
In India, DP World helped a customer reduce transport emissions by 78 percent on the Chennai to Kolkata corridor through a multimodal rail to coastal solution that simultaneously improved reliability and lowered logistics costs, illustrating the commercial as well as environmental case for modal shift away from road freight. The Chennai to Kolkata example is particularly commercially compelling because it demonstrates that lower-carbon logistics is not a trade-off against performance and cost but can deliver improvements across all three dimensions simultaneously when route and modal design is optimised at the network level. Together these case studies provide evidence-based credibility for EcoRoute's commercial proposition across the two largest emerging market regions where DP World operates.

Carbon Insetting and Scope 3 Emissions Reduction
A distinctive component of EcoRoute is its carbon insetting capability, which differs from conventional offsetting by enabling emissions reductions to occur within customers' own logistics value chains rather than through external projects, directly addressing Scope 3 emissions from customers' purchased logistics services. Through DP World's carbon inset programmes at Southampton and London Gateway ports in 2025, the company generated more than 9,400 tonnes of verified carbon dioxide insets across 257,000 TEU of cargo flows, providing customers with verified emissions reductions that can be reported as occurring within their own supply chains under frameworks including the GHG Protocol and CSRD. This inset model is increasingly valuable for corporate customers who face mandatory Scope 3 disclosure requirements and need verified emissions reductions within their logistics operations rather than portfolio-level offsets that do not affect their reported supply chain intensity.
Ayla Bajwa, DP World Group Senior Vice President for Sustainability, said EcoRoute is about turning ambition into action, giving customers the tools, insights and partnerships needed to reduce emissions across complex supply chains while delivering broader environmental and social impact. The connection between lower-carbon supply chains and social and environmental initiatives through EcoRoute's strategic partnership dimension extends the platform's value proposition beyond emissions reduction into broader ESG goal advancement, positioning DP World as a sustainability partner for customers managing the full spectrum of corporate sustainability obligations rather than simply a logistics service provider with a carbon measurement tool.
Regulatory Context and Market Timing
The EcoRoute launch addresses a rapidly evolving regulatory environment in which tightening emissions disclosure requirements, CBAM carbon border adjustments, FuelEU Maritime mandates and investor scrutiny of Scope 3 supply chain emissions are collectively raising the commercial stakes of supply chain decarbonisation for DP World's customers across manufacturing, retail, consumer goods and industrial sectors. Companies subject to CSRD mandatory sustainability reporting must now disclose and explain their Scope 3 logistics emissions, creating direct demand for the measurement, visibility and reduction capabilities that EcoRoute provides. The ISO 14083 alignment of the Carbon Emissions Calculator ensures that emissions data produced through the platform meets the international standard for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions from transport chain operations, providing the methodological credibility needed for regulatory disclosure purposes.
The combination of regulatory push and operational pull, where network optimisation and modal shift deliver cost and reliability improvements alongside emissions reductions, creates a commercial environment in which EcoRoute's integrated proposition is well timed. Customers facing both regulatory compliance requirements and commercial pressure to improve supply chain resilience and reduce logistics costs can address all three challenges simultaneously through the EcoRoute suite, reducing the trade-off between sustainability investment and operational performance that has historically limited corporate supply chain decarbonisation ambition.

Outlook for Integrated Supply Chain Sustainability Platforms
DP World's EcoRoute launch reflects the evolution of major logistics and port operators from infrastructure providers into integrated supply chain sustainability partners offering measurement, optimisation, modal shift and verified emissions reduction within a single platform relationship. Whether EcoRoute can achieve meaningful scale across DP World's global customer base will depend on the depth of customer adoption across all four capability pillars rather than selective uptake of the emissions measurement component alone, which would limit the platform's ability to drive the operational changes needed for material Scope 3 emissions reduction. The carbon insetting programme's verified outcomes at Southampton and London Gateway provide a commercially replicable model that could be extended across DP World's broader port and logistics network globally, significantly expanding the inset volume available to customers and the verified emissions reduction credentials of the EcoRoute proposition.
Sustained growth of the EcoRoute customer base with demonstrated emissions reductions across the network optimisation, modal shift and insetting components would establish DP World as a leading integrated supply chain decarbonisation platform and demonstrate that logistics infrastructure operators can create substantial value for corporate customers managing mandatory Scope 3 disclosure obligations. The convergence of regulatory pressure, investor scrutiny and customer expectation on supply chain emissions creates structurally favourable conditions for integrated platforms that deliver measurement credibility, operational improvement and verified emissions reduction within a single provider relationship.
