The Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and Enhance Energy have marked the start of construction on the Origins Carbon Capture and Storage Hub near Clive, Alberta. Once operations begin in January 2027, the facility is expected to become the largest carbon capture and storage project in Canada and one of the largest in the world, with initial capacity to permanently store up to 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 annually, described as equivalent to removing more than 500,000 cars from the road each year.
