Case StudyCarbon+Alt+delete & First Climate
Back in 2022, First Climate started looking for a tool to improve their capacity for simultaneous carbon accounting projects. Marc Selariu, senior consultant at First Climate, talks about his team’s experience with the Carbon+Alt+Delete software and how it helped to streamline and further improve their carbon accounting services. New software can be tricky, but has a clear edge over Excel “In the past, carbon accounting mostly involved spreadsheets and manual data entry,” he said. “So we started looking for smart tools that could assist us in delivering the most accurate carbon accounting services for our clients.” When evaluating different options, First Climate found that Carbon+Alt+Delete stood out for a couple of reasons. “The integration with our existing systems was seamless, which made it a natural choice,” Marc noted. Another key factor was the support offered by the Carbon+Alt+Delete team. “The training and support we received made the transition really smooth. Even though we were moving away from a familiar system, the assistance we got made it easier.” There was an initial learning curve for the team when first implementing the software, Marc explained. “At first, it took some time for everyone to get used to the software, especially for consultants who had been working with spreadsheets for years,” he said. “But once we got through that, the workflow became much smoother, and everyone experienced the benefits. With Carbon+Alt+Delete regularly adding new features, we introduced a process to make sure that everyone stays up to date with the possibilities of the software. This way, we can ensure that our consulting team stays on top of the development and can always make full use of the potential of the software as it improves.” Automation enhances accuracy and delivery speed of carbon accounting reports When asked about the specific challenges that Carbon+Alt+Delete helps First Climate with, Marc was clear: “The automation is a game changer.” Manually collecting and verifying data required a significant amount of time and slowed the carbon accounting process. “Now, much of that part is automated, which means that we can work much more efficiently.” “Our main goal is to improve the timeliness of our carbon reports without compromising on quality, and the software has really helped us with that. We’re now able to deliver more reports faster.” He emphasized how crucial this is, especially for staying compliant with increasingly strict carbon regulations. Those benefits, Marc said, were also noticed by First Climate’s clients. “Our clients have always appreciated the level of accuracy and detail provided by the First Climate team, which is why we have been able to continuously build trusted relationships. Being able to deliver the same quality reports in less time makes it easier for the companies we work with to make further commitments for their carbon footprint. Instead of just getting their footprint calculated for one specific moment, it’s now much easier to commit to multiple year calculations. This is great because it can help them to really understand their results and reduce their footprint,” Marc adds. Having a software partner creates mutual benefits “At First Climate we were sure that we needed software to improve our services and Carbon+Alt+Delete looked like the perfect partner. Our three-year agreement gives both of us the time to develop and grow together, which is very exciting. As a client, we’ve had a positive experience in working with this software for our own clients. In my personal view, for any company serious about carbon accounting, Carbon+Alt+Delete is a game-changer. It simplifies the entire process, from data collection to report generation, and the automation makes it so much more efficient. As a partner we are happy that our feedback is taken into account, and we look forward to the future of this software and our partnership. We’re looking forward to more advanced visualization tools and customizable reporting options. That would allow us to tailor our reports even more specifically to different clients to individual client’s needs,” Marc explains. “Overall, it has been a great journey, and we are confident that we can continue to make a positive impact.”
Case StudyCarbon+Alt+Delete & Amber
In the fast-evolving field of carbon accounting, staying ahead of the curve with efficient and accurate tools is essential. Fiona Harvey, Lead Net Zero Consultant from Amber, a leading UK Energy Management consultancy, talks with us about her journey and experience with Carbon+Alt+Delete. In our interview, she highlights how our tool has streamlined their carbon accounting processes and improved confidence in their practices since implementing our platform. Transition from Excel to Carbon+Alt+Delete Software Previously to implementing the Carbon+Alt+Delete software, Amber relied heavily on Excel for carbon footprinting. Amber’s own carbon footprinting tool worked well but was quickly outgrown. As the capabilities of Excel were slow and limited, it became clear they needed a tool that could better handle large volumes of data at speed. The journey to finding the right software involved comparing over 30 different options before discovering Carbon+Alt+Delete. Fiona recalled, “We discovered multiple software options, but many came with consultancy services we just didn’t need. We eventually found Carbon+Alt+Delete through a webinar. This was exciting as it was clear their software was made with consultants in mind and aligned with our core needs.” Why Carbon+Alt+Delete Software Stands Out It was the key features unique to Carbon+Alt+Delete that influenced Amber’s decision to choose this software over others that exist on the market. “Some easy features like having one central login, the ability to manage multiple companies on a single platform and ensuring data accuracy placed the platform as the front runner,” Fiona explained. After a year of working with the software, Fiona highlighted what it was like handling Scope 3 emissions. “Using the software makes it less complex and less daunting to work with. We can now calculate Scope 3 emissions on a much larger scale and make it more understandable for both our clients and our colleagues.” Future Developments and Recommendations Looking ahead, Fiona has a clear vision for further improvements on the carbon accounting platform. “The exported data and financial modelling are two areas where we see room for improvement. Presenting data more appealingly will help us attract more customers and reduce the time we spend making results clear and presentable.” Looking forward, Fiona is enthusiastic about recommending the software. “The tool itself works great and has very useful features. The team at Carbon+Alt+Delete is accessible and knowledgeable; it feels like we have formed a great partnership. We get a sense that we are developing together and that Carbon+Alt+Delete is not just a software we use, but that there is also an opportunity for collaboration. When we have ideas or questions, they are always considered, which creates great trust between both parties.” Making more impact together “Working within sustainability means you are always looking for positive influence on the future and to see opportunities where you can make an impact. We are thrilled that Carbon+Alt+Delete are also part of the B Corp community like us. This shows that companies that work for good can create more impact together. Knowing that the values of both our companies are aligned, makes working together easier and far more enjoyable.” Amber’s journey with Carbon+Alt+Delete software highlights the potential of using specialised tools in environmental consultancy. By moving away from their Excel spreadsheets to a streamlined, expert-supported platform, Amber has enhanced its ability to provide accurate and efficient carbon accounting services. Fiona said, “We feel this partnership creates great value for us and our customers. We are looking forward to further use the Carbon+Alt+Delete software to guide our clients to a Net Zero future.”
