Takeda Awards $22.2 Million to Four Climate-Resilient Health Partners

Takeda has awarded a total of $22.2 million to four new Global Corporate Social Responsibility partners supporting climate-resilient health systems in low- and middle-income countries, bringing the company's total global CSR programme contributions to $260.9 million across 42 collaborations worldwide, with 20 currently ongoing across 42 countries.

 

The 2026 awardees are Corus International, receiving $6.4 million to link climate-adaptive early warning systems, resilient service delivery and disaster preparedness to protect essential health services in Nepal; Humanity & Inclusion Handicap International, receiving $6.1 million to strengthen inclusive, climate-resilient health systems in Honduras and Peru through workforce capacity building and accessible facility adaptation; Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, receiving $5.1 million to prepare Ghana's pharmacy workforce as frontline responders to climate-related health risks through its PharmAdapt project; and Terre des hommes Foundation, receiving $4.6 million to support climate-resilient primary healthcare through facility retrofits and early warning systems in Egypt and Lebanon.

Takeda International Business Unit President Giles Platford said "significant, sustainable impact takes more than a single investment. It requires working with local partners who understand the needs in their communities and can help strengthen the systems people rely on." Corus International President and CEO Daniel Speckhard said the partnership will help Corus "build an early warning model that will be sustained by government and can be scaled beyond Nepal," while KNUST Vice Chancellor Christian Agyare said the PharmAdapt project would allow the university to "lead the way in creating practical tools and lessons that other countries across West Africa, and beyond, can learn from."
