Nordex Secures €2,475 Million ESG-Linked Guarantee Facility

Nordex Secures €2,475 Million ESG-Linked Guarantee Facility

Nordex Group has concluded a new ESG-linked syndicated Multi-Currency Guarantee Facility totalling €2,475 million, with a five-year maturity covering the period from 2026 to 2031. The facility carries improved terms compared with the company's previous arrangement, including a material reduction in interest rates on a like-for-like basis, and was arranged with commitments from a total of 15 financial institutions.

The facility was structured with support from three lead banks: Commerzbank, which also serves as bookrunner and facility agent; Intesa Sanpaolo's IMI CIB Division, acting as global coordinator, bookrunner and sustainability coordinator; and UniCredit Bank, serving as bookrunner, documentation agent and process coordinating agent. Guarantee facilities of this kind are a standard financing instrument in the wind energy industry, used to provide guarantees related to customer projects and other contractual obligations across the various markets in which a wind turbine manufacturer operates.

Chief Financial Officer Ilya Hartmann framed the refinancing as marking the completion of a five-year turnaround for the company, following what he described as a full reset of the balance sheet to a solid financial position and a business turnaround to industrial-scale performance with mid-term goals achieved. He said the enhanced financial flexibility would support the company's sales teams in converting opportunities into orders and executing its order backlog, while framing the increased facility volume and improved terms as reflecting banking partners' confidence in the company's business development and long-term prospects.

Since 1985, Nordex has commissioned more than 64 gigawatts of wind power capacity across more than 40 markets, generating consolidated sales of approximately €7.6 billion in 2025. The company employs more than 11,100 people across a manufacturing network spanning Germany, Spain, Brazil, India and the United States, with a product portfolio focused on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 megawatt-plus range designed for markets with limited available space and constrained grid capacity.
