NiSource Inc. has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, Energizing a Sustainable Future, detailing achievements across environmental, social and governance priorities for the year. Key highlights include nearly doubling renewable energy storage capacity through the installation of more than 1,500 MW of solar, wind and battery storage capacity, and receiving regulatory approval for a business model the company states will return more than $1 billion to customers while supporting large-load energy growth.
The report also states NiSource earned a place on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices for the 12th consecutive year, alongside reaffirmation to the FTSE4Good Index Series and an MSCI AAA ESG rating maintained for the fifth consecutive year. On workforce safety, the company recorded zero serious employee injuries or fatalities during the reporting period. NiSource also launched Project ReSource, a company-wide initiative aimed at reducing waste and creating value through circular economy practices, and expanded its Environmental Action Grants across its operating region, funding habitat conservation and restoration, education, and outdoor recreation programmes.

NiSource President and CEO Lloyd Yates said "sustainability is central to how NiSource plans, operates and grows," adding that it "guides how we invest in our communities and develop innovative energy solutions that create long-term value for customers and shareholders." Executive Vice President and Group President of Utilities Melody Birmingham said the report "reflects the progress we've made through disciplined execution and a steady focus on our communities."
