MobileFuse Cuts 100+ Metric Tonnes of Emissions Through Employee Home Energy Program

MobileFuse has won the Best CSR Initiative category at the 2026 Digiday Media Buying & Planning Awards for its Employee Green Energy Program, which the company says has reduced its carbon emissions by more than 100 metric tonnes since launching in 2023. The programme was created after MobileFuse's greenhouse gas inventory found that more than 44 percent of its measured emissions came from employee home energy use, a finding directly tied to the company's remote-first operating model, where staff working from home rather than a shared office shift a significant share of the company's energy footprint onto individual households.

Rather than relying primarily on carbon offsets to address that footprint, MobileFuse developed the programme to reduce emissions at the source, providing employees with education, technical guidance and financial reimbursement to help them transition to renewable home energy. More than 20 percent of employees have made that transition to date, and the company estimates that reaching 80 percent participation could reduce emissions by more than 259 metric tonnes annually, giving the programme a clear scaling pathway tied to employee adoption rather than a fixed one-time reduction.

Reducing emissions at the source also lowers the volume of carbon offsets MobileFuse needs to purchase to maintain its CarbonNeutral certification, an independent third-party designation requiring companies to offset any remaining emissions after direct reduction efforts. That structure means the home energy programme directly reduces the company's ongoing offset costs and dependency, rather than functioning as a separate initiative alongside its existing carbon neutrality strategy.

The recognition builds on MobileFuse's broader sustainability track record, including independently verified greenhouse gas inventory reports published annually since 2021, a commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative, and status as a charter member of Ad Net Zero US. Pete Gonsiorowski, director of ad quality at MobileFuse, said the company's GHG inventory reports have shown where it can make the greatest impact, and pointed to strong cross-team participation in the programme as a foundation the company intends to build on further this year.
