US-based digital infrastructure provider DC BLOX has appointed Diane Sanzone, Ph.D., as Vice President of Environment and Sustainability, strengthening its environmental oversight as the company expands its data centre, fibre network and cable landing station operations across the southeastern United States. Announced on 22 October 2026, the appointment places Sanzone in charge of environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, environmental risk management and community engagement across the company's infrastructure projects.
Sanzone brings more than 25 years of experience in environmental management and infrastructure development across the energy, technology and telecommunications sectors. She has previously held senior roles at BP, AECOM, Kleinfelder and Ramboll, where her work included data centres, hyperscale computing facilities, subsea fibre-optic networks and energy infrastructure. She holds a Ph.D. in Ecology and a master's degree in Conservation Ecology and Sustainable Development from the University of Georgia.

Her appointment will support the implementation of DC BLOX's Community Commitment, a framework built around ten principles for responsible infrastructure development and community engagement. Her responsibilities will include advancing environmental protection measures related to water conservation, air quality, responsible site design and transparency with local stakeholders. These priorities are particularly relevant as expanding digital infrastructure creates additional demands on electricity, water and land resources.
Jeff Uphues, Chief Executive Officer of DC BLOX, said, "As DC BLOX expands across the Southeast, our commitment to lead with transparency, trust, and environmental accountability remains foundational." Sanzone added, "I believe we can build essential digital infrastructure while protecting the environment, listening to local priorities, and creating lasting community benefits."
The appointment reflects DC BLOX's efforts to integrate environmental management into its expanding infrastructure operations. However, the announcement does not introduce new quantified sustainability targets, environmental investment commitments or independently verified performance improvements.
