Isometric has launched Ready for CBAM, a service designed to help exporters to the European Union prepare emissions data for independent verification under the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Announced on 3 November 2026, the service supports manufacturers across six regulated sectors: cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity. Global cement producer Cementir is already using the platform as businesses prepare for the first CBAM declarations, covering 2026 imports, due by 30 September 2027.
The service addresses the growing importance of verified emissions data in determining the carbon costs associated with goods imported into the EU. Under CBAM, importers must account for embedded emissions using either verified actual emissions data or default values established by the European Commission. For most covered goods, these default values carry a mark-up of 10% in 2026, rising to 20% in 2027 and 30% from 2028. The mechanism creates a financial incentive for manufacturers to demonstrate their actual carbon intensity, particularly where verified emissions are lower than the applicable default values.

Ready for CBAM combines automated emissions data checks with technical support from Isometric's carbon accounting specialists. The company's experts help exporters prepare facility-level monitoring plans and emissions reports, while its AI-powered platform reviews uploaded information and flags potential inconsistencies or missing data. The company then assesses submissions against EU regulatory requirements before providing them to accredited independent verifiers. Isometric also helps companies resolve any findings raised during verification, reducing the risk of repeat submissions and reporting delays.
Cementir, an international cement manufacturer, is among the first industrial companies using the service to prepare for CBAM compliance. Cement production is particularly exposed to carbon pricing requirements because of emissions generated during clinker production and associated energy consumption. Alberto Canale, Performance Director at Cementir, said, "CBAM means proving the embodied emissions of every tonne of cement we sell into the EU. Isometric’s platform and team of experts made what would have been a demanding process fast and simple." The company's adoption illustrates how emissions verification is becoming part of commercial planning for manufacturers supplying the European market.
Steel Dynamics, a North American steel producer already working with Isometric on carbon removal, also welcomed the launch. Jeff Hansen, Senior Vice President of Environmental Sustainability and Energy at Steel Dynamics, highlighted the importance of recognising measurable decarbonisation outcomes. Isometric stated that Ready for CBAM builds on the technology it uses to certify more than 200 carbon removal and reduction projects globally. As the September 2027 reporting deadline approaches, exporters will need to establish reliable emissions monitoring and verification processes to help EU customers meet their CBAM obligations and assess the carbon costs of imported products.
