DHL Group and LONGi Solar Sign MOU on Renewable Energy Logistics

DHL Group and LONGi Solar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation on renewable energy deployment and lower-emission logistics, marking the start of a strategic collaboration focused on accelerating distributed solar adoption. The agreement centres on deploying LONGi's Building-Integrated Photovoltaics technology and other distributed solar solutions across DHL facilities in Europe, using high-efficiency back contact technology designed to maximise energy yield on large commercial rooftops while maintaining long-term operational reliability.

 

The MOU builds on an existing logistics relationship between the two companies, under which DHL already supports LONGi through express delivery, ocean freight and industrial project services including factory-moving solutions. Under the expanded partnership, DHL will broaden that support to match LONGi's growing global operations, adding enhanced business-to-consumer logistics, marketing-related fulfilment services, and tailored logistics support for LONGi's new battery energy storage system portfolio.

Beyond solar deployment at DHL sites, the two companies plan to co-develop solar-plus-storage solutions tailored for logistics applications, jointly explore renewable hydrogen and next-generation renewable energy concepts, and run early-access and co-creation initiatives to pilot LONGi innovations within DHL's global network. DHL will also expand its logistics support to help build scalable, end-to-end pathways supporting LONGi's global renewable energy adoption, with senior executives from both companies set to meet regularly to evaluate progress and identify further opportunities.

 

The partnership sits within DHL's broader New Energy strategy, part of the company's Strategy 2030 plan to develop end-to-end logistics solutions across eight segments: wind, solar, electric vehicles and batteries, battery and energy storage systems, EV charging, grid infrastructure, alternative fuels and hydrogen. Michael Wiedemann, president of the energy sector at DHL Customer Solutions and Innovation, said the collaboration reflected how renewable energy innovation and global logistics excellence can reinforce each other, supporting LONGi's global expansion while deploying its solar technologies across DHL's own operations. Alex Li, general manager of Western Europe at LONGi, said the partnership provided a platform to scale the company's high-efficiency solar and storage solutions globally while supporting DHL's sustainability efforts.
