Event Details

The 26th Advanced Automotive Battery Conference (AABC) 2026 is a four-day battery technology and automotive electrification event taking place from 7 to 10 December 2026 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California, United States. Established more than 25 years ago, AABC brings together automotive OEMs, battery developers, materials companies, manufacturers, researchers, and technology suppliers to examine the technical and commercial developments shaping the future of electric vehicle batteries. The 2026 programme features 150 speakers from organisations including Ford, General Motors, Tesla, Toyota, Stellantis, Nissan, QuantumScape, Siemens, Fluence, and Argonne National Laboratory.

Purpose and Objectives

The primary purpose of AABC is to review the current state of automotive battery technology and provide informed insight into the future direction of vehicle electrification. The event focuses on battery performance, chemistry, manufacturing, engineering, raw materials, recycling, and commercialisation while connecting OEM battery teams with suppliers and technology developers working on next-generation energy storage.

Key Activities

The programme includes visionary keynotes, industry case studies, panel discussions, technical conferences, hands-on tutorials, poster sessions, and networking. Dedicated tracks cover lithium battery chemistry, battery engineering, high-performance battery manufacturing, global battery raw materials, xEV battery technology, manufacturing production, AI for energy storage, and large-scale recycling. OEM and battery developer presentations also address solid-state batteries, battery recycling, cell longevity, pack architecture, manufacturing scale-up, and advanced battery materials.

Significance

AABC is significant because it connects the scientific development of battery technologies directly with the requirements of automotive manufacturers and commercial-scale production. Its long-running focus on vehicle electrification gives participants access to battery roadmaps from major OEMs alongside advances from cell developers, materials suppliers, equipment companies, and research institutions. This makes the event particularly relevant for understanding where automotive battery technology and manufacturing are moving next.

Expected Outcomes

Participants can expect stronger understanding of emerging battery chemistries, manufacturing technologies, EV battery requirements, supply-chain developments, and recycling strategies. The conference is intended to support technical collaboration, supplier relationships, technology evaluation, research exchange, and commercial partnerships between automotive manufacturers and companies developing the next generation of battery technologies.
