Google has signed a 10-year PPA with Exus Renewables, securing 35MW of wind energy for its Spanish operations. The deal supports Google’s 24/7 carbon-free energy goal by 2030 and contributes to Spain’s renewable energy transition.
Tech giant Google has signed a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Exus Renewables, securing 35MW of wind power from the Cascante wind farm in Navarra, Spain. The agreement marks a major milestone in Google’s commitment to 24/7 carbon-free energy by 2030 and supports Spain’s goal of achieving 81% renewable energy by the same year.
Advancing Google's Clean Energy Vision
This deal is part of Google’s broader mission to reach net-zero emissions across its global operations and supply chain. Under the agreement, Exus will supply the majority of the 51MW produced by the Cascante wind farm, directly contributing to Google’s clean energy mix.
Will Conkling, Director of Energy Commercial Structuring at Google, emphasized:
"As we advance our goal to operate on clean energy every hour of every day by 2030, we are always looking for opportunities to accelerate the delivery of new, affordable, and reliable clean power to the grid."
Driving Spain’s Renewable Energy Transition
The Cascante wind project is expected to generate over 136GWh of renewable electricity annually, enough to power 41,000 households. It will also prevent approximately 17,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, supporting Spain’s National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) targets.

Laurent Jouvin, Director of Operations and Energy Management at Exus Renewables, stated:
"Exus Renewables and Google are deeply committed to decarbonizing Europe’s economy. This partnership will help fast-track Spain’s renewable energy transition while mitigating energy price volatility."
A Scalable Model for Clean Energy Procurement
The agreement was facilitated through LevelTen Energy’s LEAP™ program, which streamlines the procurement and execution of renewable energy contracts. This scalable approach is helping Google efficiently expand its clean energy footprint across Europe.
The Bigger Picture: Big Tech’s Role in Green Energy
Google is among several tech giants leading the charge in corporate renewable energy procurement, recognizing both the environmental and economic benefits of clean power. As energy prices fluctuate, long-term PPAs like this one provide cost stability while ensuring access to carbon-free energy.
With Exus Renewables solidifying its position as a key supplier of clean energy for data centers across Europe, this deal reinforces the critical role that corporate clean energy commitments play in driving the global energy transition.
