ESG Calendar November 2026: Key Dates and Deadlines

November 2026 ESG dates: COP31 Antalya thematic days, the observance calendar, and market obligations, with California SB 253 due 10 November.

02 Nov 2026

Tuesday 10 November carries two unrelated things at once. It is the first reporting deadline under California's SB 253, the date the state's air regulator can now enforce after its initial regulation took effect on 12 October 2026. It is also Energy and Transport Day at COP31 in Antalya.

One is a filing. The other is a stage. Teams that confuse the two spend the month producing content and miss the deadline.

What follows groups November in three ways: the COP31 thematic program, the observance days, and the market-by-market obligations. Dates include the source that states them, and where a November date can't be confirmed from a primary or professional source, the entry says so instead of guessing.

How To Use This Calendar

Three categories, and they should never be mixed in one planning document.

A deadline has a legal consequence if you miss it. A milestone is a date something begins or a status changes. An observance is a communications opportunity with no compliance effect whatsoever.

Most ESG calendars circulating in November are observance lists with two deadlines buried in them. Separate the columns, assign an owner to each deadline, and treat the observances as a content plan owned by whoever runs communications.

One more habit worth adopting. Record where each date came from and on what day you checked it. Dates in this field move, and the regulation governing the biggest item below moved from August to November in 2026.

COP31 Antalya: The Twelve Thematic Days

COP31 runs from 9 to 20 November 2026 in Antalya, Türkiye. Türkiye and Australia form the incoming Presidency, working under what the UNFCCC calls the Türkiye-Australia Partnership Modalities.

The Presidency has published twelve thematic days.

Tue 17 November

Wed 18 November

Thu 19 November

Fri 20 November

Final Negotiations

The Presidency describes the program as ministerial dialogues, expert panels, business forums and partnership announcements intended to connect policy with practice. Only 20 November is labeled for negotiations, and the published page does not say how the thematic sessions feed into the negotiated outcome.

For a corporate team, the practical use is narrow and real. If your sector has a day, that is the day your announcement competes with every other announcement in that sector, and the day before is usually the better slot. Finance and Trade on Friday 13 November is the one most likely to generate figures that end up in client questions the following week.

By Market: What Is Live In November

Market

Status in November 2026

USA

SB 253 first report due 10 November, scopes 1 and 2, with limited assurance in the first instance; SB 261 climate risk report was due 1 January 2026 and has been subject to litigation, so confirm its current status before acting.

UK

No November filing date identified; the live work is sustainability reporting standards development and transition plan expectations, which should be confirmed against the current consultation position.

France

EU items below apply; national transposition of the EU corporate sustainability framework should be checked against the latest national measure.e

Germany

As France; check the national implementing position rather than assuming the EU timetable.le

Italy

As France; check the national implementing position

UAE

Climate law obligations are in force and sit on their own compliance cycle; no November filing date identified.ied

China

Exchange sustainability reporting guidelines run on an annual reporting cycle with filings earlier in the year; November is preparation, not fi.ling

India

Reporting and assurance obligations sit on the Indian financial year, so November is mid-year data collection rather than a filing .month

Australia

Mandatory climate reporting is phased by group; confirm which group your entity sits in and its first reporting period, as the obligation is annual rather than November-dated

Singapore

Listed issuer climate reporting runs on the annual cycle; November is preparation.ration

Brazil

Securities regulator has adopted international sustainability standards on a mandatory basis for financial years beginning in 2026, so November is in-year preparation for a 2027 filing

Two things to notice about that table. Most markets have no November deadline at all, which is the honest answer and a useful one, because it tells a global team where not to spend the month. And where an entry says to confirm, that is because the position was moving during 2026 and a date asserted here would be worth less than a check against the regulator.

The Dated Items Worth Diarising

10 November, United States. SB 253's first reporting deadline. The date moved during 2026 from 10 August, and the initial regulation took effect on 12 October 2026, after which the air regulator can enforce it. Scopes 1 and 2 only this year, with scope 3 beginning in 2027. Limited assurance applies to scopes 1 and 2 in the first instance, with the rsignalingreasonable assurance from 2030. Iorganizationisation does business in California and sits above the revenue thr;shold, this is the month's only item with a near-term consequence attached.

2 November, European Union. The authorization application deadline under the ESG rating activities regulation has now passed. Providers operating in the EU on 2 January 2025 and relying on the transitional regime had to notify by 2 August 2026 and apply for authorization or recognition by 2 November 2026; small providers had to notify by the same date. If you buy ratings or data from an EU-facing provider, ask this month whether they filed.

30 December, European Union, with November as the run-up. The deforestation regulation now applies from 30 December 2026 for medium and large operators and traders, and from 30 June 2027 for micro and small operators, following the targeted revision made by Regulation 2025/2650, adopted in December 2025 and published in the Official Journal on 23 December 2025. Downstream operators and traders no longer have to submit due diligence declarations; this obligation falls on primary operators placing products on the market for the first time. Still, all downstream parties must keep supplier and customer records for five years, and non-SME downstream operators and traders must register that information in the Commission's information system. November is the last full month to get that registration and record-keeping working.

What Is Not In This Calendar

Several things, deliberately.

No COP31 outcome dates, because negotiated outcomes do not have publication dates until they exist. No thematic day detail beyond the published titles, because the session-level program wasn't available on the Presidency's thematic days page.

No invented filing dates for the markets listed as having none. A global calendar that shows a deadline in every market every month is describing a template rather than a year.

And no awareness days whose status could not be established. The list above includes several non-UN observances, each marked as such, because they are widely used; it excludes others that circulate in calendars without an identifiable sponsor.

A Two-Hour Task For The First Week

Take your organization's own ESG calendar and do three things to it.

Tag every entry as deadline, milestone or observance, and count the deadlines. If the count is under three for a month like this one, the calendar is a communications plan with a compliance label on it.

Put a named person against each deadline, not a team. Then add the date you last verified it, and the source, in the same row.

Finally, check what matters. If California is in scope for your group, confirm today who is filing on 10 November, what assurance they have arranged, and whether the figures have been through a reconciliation anybody outside the reporting team has seen.

Position as of 3 November 2026. Dates were compiled on that date from the UNFCCC and COP31 Presidency pages, European Union instruments and press material, and professional firm reference material for the California regulations; all are subject to change, litigation and further rulemaking, and the California reporting date itself moved during 2026, so every date here should be reverified against the responsible regulator or organizer before being relied on. The market table reflects what could be confirmed as of that date and is not a statement that no obligation exists in a market shown as having no November filing date; entries marked for confirmation are marked because the position was moving. United Nations observance dates are fixed-date international days as published by the United Nations, with the road traffic victims date calculated as the third Sunday of November 2026; non-UN observances are identified as such, and the European Week for Waste Reduction dates for 2026 were not confirmed. Scope, thresholds and assurance requirements described for any regime are summaries and not a determination of whether a particular entity is in scope. Nothing here is legal, accounting, assurance or compliance advice, and in-scope determinations should be made with professional advisers.
