Zelestra has reached full commercial operation at its 27.5 MWdc Klevenow solar plant in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, the company's first operational project in the country. Awarded through Germany's EEG tender scheme, the plant comprises approximately 42,300 solar panels and is expected to generate around 28,700 MWh of clean energy annually, helping avoid approximately 9,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year while supporting commercial and industrial energy demand in the nearby Pomeranian Triangle region. Construction was completed in under six months and supported approximately 40 jobs.
The project follows Zelestra's October 2024 acquisition of East Energy, positioning Klevenow as part of the company's accelerated German growth strategy since that acquisition. Zelestra's German pipeline now exceeds 2 gigawatts across solar, hybrid, wind and battery storage projects, and the company plans to begin construction on two additional solar projects and its first German battery energy storage system project in the second half of 2026, which it says would bring its combined operational and construction-stage capacity in the country to more than 200 megawatts.

Germany's EEG tender system, the country's renewable energy support scheme, allocates guaranteed remuneration to renewable projects through a competitive bidding process, giving successful projects like Klevenow a defined revenue structure supporting project financing. Zelestra Germany chief executive Mathias Kuenicke described bringing Klevenow into operation as demonstrating the company's ability to move quickly from development into construction and operations, framing the milestone as establishing a platform for the company's continued growth in the German market. Zelestra employs 70 people in Germany across offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Rostock.
