Time-saving automation: Apparel and consumer goods companies can now calculate Scope 3 emissions in minutes rather than months.
Primary data integration: Enables precise emissions tracking by utilizing real supply chain data, moving beyond estimates.
Audit-ready reporting: Companies can confidently report Scope 3 emissions, supported by limited assurance from Apex.
Worldly, a leader in supply chain sustainability insights, has launched its Product Impact Calculator, the first tool to seamlessly integrate primary supply chain data with pre-built product impact models. This breakthrough allows apparel and consumer goods companies to quickly access actionable, detailed Scope 3 emissions data.
Scope 3 emissions account for over 90% of the total emissions in the apparel and consumer goods industries. Accurate tracking and reduction of these emissions are critical for achieving reduction targets and complying with upcoming reporting regulations.
Historically, sustainability teams have faced challenges with spend-based calculations, spending months collecting data from various sources and spreadsheets.
Alex Lauver, Senior Director of Materials, Innovation & Sustainability at Outdoor Research, highlighted the industry’s shift: “Our industry has been working toward using primary data, moving away from averages, assumptions, and estimates, to improve environmental performance and reduce our carbon footprint as quickly as possible.”
Worldly’s tool leverages detailed product and material data, automating labor-intensive spreadsheet calculations by integrating companies' supply chain data. It draws from purchase orders, supply chain operations, and product specifications, progressively refining each purchase order's associated emissions.
To enhance accuracy, the tool also incorporates data from the Higg Index, the globally recognized impact measurement methodology developed by Cascale, a nonprofit alliance. This enables companies to produce auditable, reliable Scope 3 reports, now backed by limited assurance from Apex.
Kelly Hughes, Senior Sustainability Manager at Ruffwear, praised the tool’s speed and usability: “The Product Impact Calculator’s efficiency will inspire new ways to track against our GHG budget in the same way and cadence as we track against our financial budget.”
Kevin Vranes, Worldly’s Chief Product Officer, added: “We have brought together all the components for companies to get a precise reading of their GHG emissions. This tool offers an easily customizable experience, allowing them to use existing primary data from their supply chain without starting from scratch.”
This launch follows Worldly’s recent introduction of the Facility Data Manager, a tool that enables companies to gather validated environmental data from suppliers as frequently as monthly. With its vast supplier network and deep product expertise, Worldly continues to lead the way in helping businesses meet their sustainability goals.
