Westwin Elements and global metals trader Traxys have signed amended agreements allowing Westwin to extend its existing nickel feedstock supply and offtake arrangements for a total term of up to 22 years. If the option is exercised for the full period, the refined nickel offtake component alone could represent approximately $3.96 billion in transaction value, based on current market prices. The agreement is intended to support Westwin's expansion of domestic nickel refining capacity in the United States while providing greater certainty over raw material supplies and future sales.
The agreement builds on a partnership established in 2025, under which Traxys committed to supplying mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP) feedstock to Westwin's planned commercial refinery and purchasing the refined nickel briquettes produced at the facility. Under the revised framework, the companies will collaborate to identify and secure additional feedstock sources, subject to Westwin's approval. The arrangement will complement Westwin's efforts to develop domestic raw material sources and diversify its supplier relationships as it expands production.

Westwin has demonstrated its refining technology at its facility in Lawton, Oklahoma, and is developing commercial-scale operations to supply high-purity nickel for industrial and national security applications. KaLeigh Long, Founder and CEO of Westwin Elements, said, "The extended framework with Traxys supports our plans to scale production, secure reliable feedstock supply and develop long-term markets for our products." She added that the company would continue pursuing additional customer and supplier partnerships to strengthen domestic nickel supply chains.
Mark Kristoff, CEO of Traxys, highlighted the importance of long-term commercial arrangements in supporting domestic critical mineral production. "The extended tenor may also help underpin Westwin’s longer-term development and financing plans as it scales domestic nickel production," he said. The agreement provides a potential foundation for future feedstock purchases and refined nickel sales, although its eventual value will depend on the extension option being exercised, market prices and actual transaction volumes. The companies have not disclosed specific production targets or a commissioning timeline for Westwin's planned commercial refinery.
