UNDP and TAILG Sign MOU for Green Mobility Centre in Africa

UNDP and TAILG Sign MOU for Green Mobility Centre in Africa

The United Nations Development Programme and electric mobility company TAILG have signed a memorandum of understanding in Kenya to jointly establish a Green Mobility Centre of Excellence, aimed at advancing low-carbon transportation across Africa. The agreement, signed by TAILG president Michael Yao and UNDP Kenya resident representative Jean-Luc Stalon, sets out a framework for long-term cooperation spanning technological innovation, ecosystem development and industry incubation in support of regional sustainable development goals.

The centre is positioned as the foundation for scaling Africa's green mobility industry, with TAILG involved across project operations, governance, innovation systems and international technical exchange. The partnership focuses specifically on electric two-wheeler technology and gasoline-to-electric conversion, an area where TAILG brings substantial existing manufacturing capacity to bear on the region's transport emissions.

TAILG operates seven research and manufacturing bases worldwide with annual production capacity exceeding 15 million units, and its products are sold in more than 70 countries and regions. That existing industrial scale is what the company is positioning as the backbone for overseas green mobility projects, rather than building manufacturing capability from scratch specifically for the African market.

Michael Yao, president of TAILG, described the partnership as a milestone in the company's global development, saying TAILG would apply its new energy two-wheeler technologies to advance green mobility and carbon reduction projects across Africa in collaboration with UNDP. He said the company intended to continue working with UN agencies and partners to drive regional green growth and contribute to global carbon reduction goals.
