Carbon removal company Terradot has secured a $34 million senior secured term loan from HA Sustainable Infrastructure Capital (HASI) to expand its enhanced rock weathering (ERW) projects in the United States and Brazil. Announced on 27 October 2026, the transaction represents the largest publicly disclosed debt financing for enhanced rock weathering, according to the companies. The investment will support Terradot's commercial deployment of a technology that removes atmospheric carbon dioxide by accelerating the weathering of crushed rock applied to agricultural land.
The financing is backed by fixed-price, multi-year carbon removal offtake agreements with Frontier, a buyer coalition that includes Google, Salesforce, JPMorgan, Shopify and Stripe. The transaction also incorporates carbon delivery insurance provided by CFC and arranged through Marsh, helping manage risks associated with future carbon credit delivery. Julia Sekula, Chief Financial Officer and Co-founder of Terradot, said, "With contracted demand and years of field data that let us bound risks and forecast delivery, this investment marks an important step in bringing project capital to enhanced rock weathering and building the operating record for larger deployments."

Terradot plans to deploy approximately one million tonnes of crushed rock across 60,000 hectares of agricultural land in the US and Brazil during 2026 and 2027. Enhanced rock weathering accelerates natural mineral reactions that remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and can also benefit agricultural soils. The company has already issued carbon removal credits certified by Isometric and Puro, including through its US operations following the 2026 acquisition of Eion. However, the amount of rock deployed should not be confused with the quantity of CO₂ actually removed, which requires measurement and verification.
Annmarie Reynolds, Co-Chief Investment Officer at HASI, highlighted Terradot's contracted demand, field data and repeatable deployment model as important factors supporting the investment. Hannah Bebbington Valori, Head of Frontier, also emphasized how long-term carbon removal purchases can help developers secure financing for commercial expansion. Terradot, which has previously raised $58 million from investors including Google and Microsoft, is targeting one million tonnes of annual CO₂ removal by 2035. The latest financing demonstrates how contracted carbon credit demand and insurance mechanisms can support access to debt capital for emerging carbon removal technologies.
