Sinergy Flow has secured €7 million in a late-seed funding round to accelerate the development and commercialization of its long-duration energy storage technology.
The climate tech company is focused on flow battery systems designed to support higher penetration of renewable energy on power grids. As wind and solar capacity expand globally, long-duration energy storage is increasingly viewed as essential to stabilizing supply, managing intermittency, and enhancing grid resilience.
Scaling Flow Battery Development
With the new capital, Sinergy Flow plans to expand its multidisciplinary team across engineering, research and development, and industrial operations. The company will advance performance testing and validation of its proprietary flow battery architecture while preparing for industrial-scale deployment.
In parallel, the business aims to strengthen its industrialization roadmap, laying the groundwork for larger manufacturing capacity and commercial partnerships. Moving from pilot-stage technology to scalable production remains one of the most significant hurdles for long-duration storage providers.
Flow batteries differ from conventional lithium-ion systems by storing energy in liquid electrolytes held in external tanks. This architecture allows for longer discharge durations, improved safety profiles, and extended lifecycle performance. As grids require storage solutions capable of delivering power for eight hours or more, flow battery systems are gaining attention as a complementary technology to lithium-based storage.

Positioning in the Energy Transition
Long-duration energy storage is emerging as a critical infrastructure layer in decarbonized power systems. While short-duration batteries help manage daily fluctuations, multi-hour and multi-day storage technologies are increasingly necessary to balance seasonal variability and reduce reliance on fossil fuel peaker plants.
Sinergy Flow’s focus on flow battery systems aligns with broader European climate objectives aimed at enhancing energy independence, grid reliability, and renewable integration.
The company has emphasized that achieving global decarbonization targets will require bold technological innovation and coordinated ecosystem support. Through continued product development, team expansion, and industrial partnerships, Sinergy Flow is positioning itself to contribute to the next phase of clean energy infrastructure buildout.
