Optera's upgraded Supply Chain Manager enables detailed Scope 3 emissions reporting, helping companies meet climate regulations with faster onboarding, transparent calculations, and supplier engagement.
Optera, a leading provider of ESG and carbon management software, has unveiled a new version of its Supply Chain Manager, introducing advanced capabilities for Scope 3, category 1 emissions management. These upgrades arrive at a critical time as companies navigate stricter regulations like the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and California’s Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act. The upgraded platform provides more detailed supplier data and transparent emissions calculations, aimed at accelerating decarbonization efforts across value chains.
Tim Weiss, CEO and co-founder of Optera, highlighted the platform's transformative approach, stating, “We’re not just providing a tool; we’re enabling a transformative approach to sustainability.” With features like granular supplier data, transparent calculations, and faster onboarding, Optera’s platform simplifies the process for companies, enabling them to "drive climate action throughout their value chains.”
The updated Supply Chain Manager builds upon Optera’s comprehensive emissions data repository from over 10,000 companies, incorporating several key improvements:
Detailed Supplier Data: The platform now offers facility-level and business unit emissions, with plans to add product-level data in the future.
Calculation Transparency: The platform displays clear data sources, calculations, and factor mapping, ensuring full traceability.
Accelerated Reporting: Thanks to quicker onboarding and automated submissions, companies can now start emissions reporting within weeks.
Enhanced User Interface: The streamlined design supports collaboration across sustainability teams, leadership, and external partners.
In addition to these enhancements, Optera’s Outreach module now enables companies to engage suppliers at varied readiness levels to gather emissions data efficiently. This update aligns with Optera's research findings, which reveal that “70% of surveyed professionals work with their value chain to aid supplier decarbonization,” with 73% committed to science-based targets and over 90% publicly disclosing their emissions data.
“These metrics underscore the critical role our Supply Chain Manager plays in today’s sustainability landscape, giving companies the data and collaborative capabilities necessary to make substantial value chain emissions reductions,” Weiss added.
With its latest updates, Optera’s Supply Chain Manager positions businesses to meet regulatory demands effectively while supporting ambitious decarbonization goals. The platform’s new features aim to streamline reporting, enhance transparency, and drive climate action within complex supply chains.
