Nouryon has begun commercial operations at a 2 MW onsite solar system serving its manufacturing facility in Morris, Illinois, under a long-term power purchase agreement with Convergent Energy and Power. The project is Nouryon’s first onsite solar PPA in the United States and will supply renewable electricity directly to the facility.
The system is intended to increase the share of renewable electricity used at the Morris site while giving Nouryon greater long-term energy certainty. Convergent developed the project and will provide the solar generation under the PPA structure, allowing Nouryon to use onsite renewable power without owning the generation asset outright.

The Morris installation supports Nouryon’s broader goal of reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 compared with a 2019 baseline. While the 2 MW project will represent only one part of that wider strategy, it adds a direct source of renewable electricity at an operating industrial facility.
“The onsite solar project supports our commitment to expanding our renewable energy footprint and reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said Eduardo Nardinelli, Senior Vice President, South America and Global Carbon Business Strategy at Nouryon.
Johannes Rittershausen, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Convergent Energy and Power, said the project demonstrates how industrial companies can combine locally generated renewable power with longer-term energy planning. Convergent has more than $1 billion invested in or committed to energy assets in operation or development across North America.
