North Island Credit Union Foundation Opens 2026 Scholarship Applications for Southern California Students

North Island Credit Union Foundation Opens 2026 Scholarship Applications for Southern California Students

The North Island Credit Union Foundation has opened applications for its 2026 Student Scholarship Program, inviting college-bound students from San Diego and Riverside counties to apply for financial support ahead of the next academic year. The foundation will distribute a total of $10,000 in scholarships, with individual awards of $1,000, aimed at students who combine strong academic performance with active engagement in their schools and local communities.

Supporting Education and Community Leadership

The scholarship program reflects the foundation’s long-standing focus on education as a pathway to opportunity. According to the foundation, the awards are intended to recognize students who demonstrate academic commitment, leadership potential, and a willingness to contribute positively to their communities as they prepare for higher education.

Foundation President Marvel Ford emphasized that the initiative is designed to invest directly in local talent by helping students take the next step toward college while reinforcing the importance of community involvement alongside academic achievement.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

The scholarships are open to high school seniors planning to attend college, as well as community college students transferring to a four-year university. Eligible applicants must reside in San Diego or Riverside counties. In addition, North Island Credit Union members, or their dependents, may apply regardless of geographic location.

Applicants are required to maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Selection is based on a combination of factors, including academic record, participation in school or community activities, a letter of recommendation, and a written essay.
