Governor Josh Stein has announced $265 million in loans and grants to fund 99 water infrastructure projects across 45 counties, improving public health and environmental resilience.
Key Investments
- $2M for Kings Mountain: Lead and copper pipe replacement.
- $1M for Fair Bluff: New well outside the floodplain.
- $500K for Nags Head: Septic system repairs.
- $15M for Columbus County: Water tank, supply well, and system expansion.
- $5M for Roanoke Rapids: Removing PFAS from drinking water.

Funding & Future Plans
The NC Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) received 203 applications requesting $1.63B. The State Water Infrastructure Authority approved awards on Feb. 19.
