German bank NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank has acquired Voltiq, an energy transition financial advisory firm, to strengthen its structured finance business and expand its services for renewable energy and infrastructure projects. The acquisition will allow NORD/LB to combine its existing financing capabilities with specialised advisory services covering project finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and equity raising. The bank aims to offer more integrated financial solutions to developers and investors involved in the global energy transition.
Through the acquisition, NORD/LB will expand its services across project structuring, financing arrangements, lending, underwriting, strategic transaction advisory and equity raising. The combination is intended to help clients access financial expertise across different stages of energy infrastructure development, from securing initial capital to arranging debt financing and completing transactions. Voltiq's clients will also gain access to NORD/LB's broader financial products, institutional relationships and international market presence.

NORD/LB has financed renewable energy projects for more than 30 years, supporting over 1,100 projects with a combined installed capacity of approximately 108 gigawatts. Its Structured Finance division operates across Germany and international markets, providing financing for energy and infrastructure developments. The acquisition builds on this experience by adding specialist advisory capabilities that can support more complex investment structures and capital-raising requirements.
Founded in 2009, Voltiq provides financial advisory services across solar energy, onshore and offshore wind, energy storage, hydrogen, bioenergy and electricity transmission networks. The company operates internationally and maintains relationships with project developers, investors and other participants in the energy transition sector. Following the acquisition, Voltiq will continue operating under its existing brand with its established team, maintaining its specialised advisory focus while benefiting from NORD/LB's financial resources and wider network.
The transaction reflects the growing importance of combining project development expertise with access to debt and equity capital as renewable energy infrastructure expands. By bringing Voltiq's advisory capabilities into its structured finance business, NORD/LB aims to strengthen its competitive position in energy transition financing and support clients through a broader range of transactions. The companies have not disclosed the acquisition price or announced specific financing targets associated with the deal.
