Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners invests in Torch Clean Energy, aiding its transformation into an independent power producer and accelerating clean energy development in key US markets.
Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP) has announced a strategic investment in Torch Clean Energy, a US-based clean energy and battery storage developer, to accelerate its transition into an integrated renewable power platform. This partnership aims to position Torch as a leading independent power producer (IPP) in the growing renewable energy market.
With this investment, Torch will expand its capabilities from developing renewable energy projects to constructing, owning, and operating clean energy assets. Torch has already developed and sold over 1.2 gigawatts of renewable energy in regions like the Mid-Atlantic and the desert Southwest, where demand is surging due to data centers and strong solar resources.
Jonathan Kilberg, CEO of Torch Clean Energy, said, “We are excited to partner with Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners. This partnership gives us the resources and support to scale our operations, enhance our capabilities, and continue to deliver real value to our customers.”
The collaboration will enable Torch to scale operations by improving construction processes, procurement, and project financing. It will also allow the company to better serve its customers with clean and reliable energy.
Chris Ortega, Head of Americas for MSIP, emphasized the strategic nature of this investment, saying, “Torch is well-positioned to benefit from the industry tailwinds of electrification and data center demand through its differentiated strategy of siting high-value contracted projects in growing markets.”
This partnership underscores the growing demand for renewable energy as the US continues to electrify industries and embrace sustainable energy solutions. Torch’s expertise in managing energy project connections and its strong relationships with power buyers will be key to driving its growth as an IPP.
