Meta has signed a new long-term power purchase agreement with Spain-based solar developer Zelestra to secure 176 megawatts of solar energy from a newly developed project in Texas. The agreement adds another large-scale asset to Meta’s rapidly growing renewable energy portfolio in the United States.

The deal supports Meta’s strategy of directly enabling new clean power generation while continuing to match its operations with 100 percent renewable electricity. The company has committed to reaching net-zero emissions across its entire value chain by 2030 and remains one of the world’s largest corporate purchasers of renewable energy.

Scaling Solar Capacity Across the United States

The Texas solar project represents the latest expansion in an ongoing partnership between Meta and Zelestra. With this agreement, the total contracted capacity between the two companies now reaches approximately 1.2 gigawatts across seven solar projects in the U.S., all scheduled to be fully operational by 2028.

Zelestra recently completed full commercial operations at the first project under the partnership, the Jasper County Solar Project in Indiana, which has a capacity of 81 MWdc. Construction has also begun on additional projects, underscoring the pace at which the collaboration is moving from contract signing to physical delivery of clean energy onto the grid.

Supporting Grid Growth and Renewable Matching

Meta said the new power purchase agreement aligns with its broader goal of adding incremental renewable capacity to regional grids, rather than relying solely on existing clean energy supply. By contracting power from new solar developments, the company aims to strengthen grid resilience while ensuring that the electricity consumed by its data centers and operations is matched with clean generation.

Texas, with its abundant solar resources and large-scale energy infrastructure, has become a strategic location for corporate renewable procurement. The Skull Creek solar project associated with this agreement is expected to contribute meaningfully to regional clean energy supply once operational.

Zelestra’s U.S. leadership emphasized the momentum generated by its collaboration with Meta, highlighting the scale and speed of deployment across multiple states.
