L’Oréal Travel Retail and Avolta have formalised a joint sustainability-linked business plan aimed at accelerating circularity across the travel retail sector. The partnership includes a target for refill solutions to represent 10% of core fragrance formats by 2030, alongside measures covering logistics, packaging and sustainability training for frontline retail teams.
A central focus will be expanding refillable beauty formats across major travel hubs. By increasing access to refill solutions, the two companies aim to reduce packaging use while making lower-impact purchasing options more visible to travellers. The 10% target gives the partnership a measurable benchmark for how extensively refill formats are incorporated into L’Oréal’s core fragrance portfolio sold through Avolta locations.

The companies will also work on reducing the environmental impact of their supply chain. Planned measures include increasing the use of lower-emission transport options and improving truckload utilisation, with the aim of reducing the logistics footprint associated with moving products through the travel retail network.
"Together with Avolta, we are translating shared sustainability commitments into measurable operational steps, expanding refillable beauty and lowering our logistics footprint across key travel hubs," said Eva Yu, President of L’Oréal Travel Retail. The partnership will also introduce dedicated sustainability training for Beauty Advisors, helping frontline teams explain refill and circularity initiatives directly to customers.
The agreement links product circularity with operational changes across logistics and retail. Its progress will ultimately depend on how widely refill formats are adopted across Avolta’s network and whether the companies can demonstrate measurable reductions in packaging and transport-related impacts as they work towards the 2030 target.
