Lime Achieves 90% Logistics Emissions Reduction with Green Innovations

Micromobility leader Lime has achieved a remarkable 90% reduction in logistics-related emissions, reinforcing its commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2030. Operating in over 200 cities across nearly 30 countries, Lime has adopted renewable HVO100 fuel and electric trucks, significantly cutting CO₂ emissions by an estimated 7,100 kg in its EMEA region alone.

Andrew Savage, VP of Sustainability at Lime, emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating: "Decarbonising our logistics is critical to our mission and aggressive roadmap to net zero. With this new initiative in Rotterdam, between Europe and North America, Lime's freight moves from port to hub using an average of 95% less carbon."

In the U.S., Lime collaborates with Hight Logistics to achieve zero-emission freight transport for its California hub, while partnerships in Europe with Albas and NeeleVat integrate HVO100 fuel, slashing CO₂ emissions by 89% compared to traditional diesel transportation.

Reflecting on the company's broader goals, Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime, said: "We still have a lot of work ahead, but it's a great start. We won't stop until we accomplish our mission of building a carbon-free transportation future."

By 2030, Lime aims to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% and Scope 3 emissions per rider kilometer by 97%, with these goals validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. The company has already reduced its carbon intensity by nearly 60% since 2019.

In addition to its logistics efforts, Lime has committed to global shipping decarbonization through the Mission Possible Partnership, targeting 100% zero-emission shipping by 2040.

"Transportation is one of the largest contributors to global emissions, and we’re determined to lead the change," Ting added. "Our strategy combines innovation, collaboration, and bold action to ensure a sustainable future."
