L'Oréal Achieves 100% Renewable Energy Milestone in SAPMENA Region

L'Oréal Achieves 100% Renewable Energy Milestone in SAPMENA Region

L'Oréal achieves 100% renewable energy in the SAPMENA region ahead of schedule, advancing its sustainability goals and committing to further emissions cuts, consumer engagement, and net zero by 2050.

L'Oréal Groupe has announced that it has achieved 100% renewable energy usage across its 23 sites in the South Asia Pacific, Middle East, and North Africa (SAPMENA) region, reaching this target two years ahead of its 2025 goal. The sites include factories, distribution centers, a research and innovation hub, and administrative offices, underscoring the company's commitment to sustainability.

Highlighting the significance of this achievement, SAPMENA President Vismay Sharma stated, “Reaching 100% renewable energy is significant, and I’m very proud of my team’s efforts to accelerate and meet this commitment ahead of our 2025 timeline. We’re not stopping here; it is one step of many in our sustainability journey.”

The SAPMENA region, home to 40% of the global population and highly vulnerable to climate change, has benefited from tailored renewable energy solutions. For example, L'Oréal’s factory in Indonesia uses hydropower from nearby dams, while Indian facilities employ a mix of solar, wind, and hydroelectric energy.

Looking beyond this milestone, L'Oréal is focusing on reducing energy use, improving logistics, and engaging stakeholders. The company has committed to helping consumers reduce product emissions by 25% by 2030, cutting greenhouse gas emissions by the same percentage, and achieving net zero by 2050.

Additionally, L'Oréal has set aside €150 million for social and environmental initiatives to support its comprehensive sustainability strategy. Sharma emphasized the importance of integrating sustainable practices into business operations, adding, “As the world’s leading beauty player, it is critical that we embed sustainable practices into our core operations as we grow.”

By using innovative energy solutions and aligning with its sustainability goals, L'Oréal demonstrates that environmental responsibility and business growth can go hand in hand.
