Infravision Raises $91 Million to Accelerate Drone-Based Power Grid Deployment

Infravision Raises $91 Million to Accelerate Drone-Based Power Grid Deployment

Texas-based grid technology startup Infravision has secured $91 million in Series B funding to expand its drone-enabled solutions for power grid construction and maintenance, a critical step toward meeting global electrification and energy transition goals.

Transforming Grid Construction with Robotics

Founded in 2018 by Cameron Van Der Berg, a robotics engineer, and Chris Cox, a former military veteran, Infravision is reimagining how transmission lines are built and maintained. Its aerial robotics technology allows utilities and contractors to deploy power lines faster and more safely, replacing conventional methods that rely heavily on helicopters, manual stringing, and long outage windows. The company has already completed over 40 large-scale projects across four countries, including Powerlink Genex in Australia and emergency grid repair operations with PG&E in California. The latest funding round will fuel the rollout of its flagship TX System, a fully integrated solution that combines drones, smart ground equipment, and stringing hardware designed for truck-based, daily-use deployment.

“Our aerial robotics system has been proven on some of the largest and most complex power line projects in the world,” said Van Der Berg, who continues to lead product innovation and deployment strategy. “This investment will help us scale a faster, safer, and more cost-effective way to meet surging electricity demand as the world races to double grid infrastructure by 2040.”

Funding and Strategic Partnerships

The Series B round was led by Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC, with participation from Activate Capital, Hitachi Ventures, and returning investor Energy Impact Partners (EIP). The new capital will support U.S. manufacturing expansion, engineering recruitment, and commercial partnerships with utilities and developers to strengthen grid resilience and accelerate transmission buildout. Investors see Infravision’s technology as key to overcoming one of the energy transition’s biggest hurdles, the slow pace and high cost of grid expansion.

“Reliable, modern transmission infrastructure is foundational to the global energy transition,” said Swap Shah, Partner at Energy Impact Partners. “Infravision is solving one of the toughest challenges in that equation how to scale grid buildout safely, affordably, and at the pace required to meet electrification, AI, and industrial growth.”

Scaling for the Energy Transition

As electrification drives soaring demand for transmission capacity from renewables and electric vehicles to data centers and AI infrastructure, the ability to build grids twice as fast with lower carbon and safety risks is becoming a national priority. Infravision’s drone-based systems not only reduce environmental and community disruption but also cut emissions tied to helicopter use and traditional construction equipment. The company’s approach aligns with global efforts to decarbonize industrial operations while modernizing infrastructure to support next-generation clean energy systems. With its latest investment, Infravision is poised to become a leading enabler of the next era of grid innovation, bridging the gap between advanced robotics and the world’s urgent need for scalable, resilient power networks.
