India emerges as a leader in AI-driven sustainability, with 96% of business leaders planning IT investments to achieve environmental goals, improve resilience, and enhance brand reputation, says IBM.
India has emerged as a leader in utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to drive sustainability initiatives, according to a recent report by IBM. The report underscores the growing commitment of Indian businesses to adopt AI technologies to address environmental challenges, improve business resilience, and enhance brand value.
The findings reveal that 96% of Indian business leaders plan to increase investments in IT over the next year, viewing it as a key strategy for achieving their environmental objectives. Highlighting the role of AI, Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India/South Asia, noted, “AI is proving to be a game-changer in driving responsible growth as sustainability becomes central to business strategies.”
Currently, 64% of Indian businesses are leveraging AI solutions to meet sustainability goals. Generative AI is playing a significant role by offering data-driven insights that support carbon reduction efforts and the development of sustainable business practices. Patel also commented on the nation’s progress, stating, “India stands out as a leader in AI-driven sustainability. Business leaders see sustainability as a transformative tool, and IBM is committed to providing AI solutions that support their objectives.”
The report also highlights specific challenges, such as water resource management, which remains a pressing issue for many Indian companies. Despite these hurdles, 54% of businesses have incorporated sustainability into their core strategies to foster innovation and growth. Furthermore, 81% are proactively addressing climate-related risks, and 79% have implemented advanced systems to monitor and evaluate sustainability efforts using detailed data analytics.
IBM’s report emphasizes the importance of adopting tailored AI tools to align sustainability strategies with organizational goals. By enhancing data collection, identifying improvement areas, and fostering alignment among stakeholders, companies can create cohesive and effective sustainability roadmaps.
These advancements place India at the forefront of AI-driven sustainability efforts. Businesses are not only addressing environmental concerns but also setting new standards for innovation and responsible growth. Patel concluded, “The convergence of AI and sustainability offers businesses an opportunity to transform operations while addressing critical challenges.
