H2SITE raises $37M to scale its innovative hydrogen production and transport solutions. Funds will boost multi-ton hydrogen capacity by 2026, focusing on ammonia cracking and global decarbonization.
Hydrogen technology startup H2SITE has raised €36 million ($37.2 million) in a Series B funding round. The capital will enable the company to expand its hydrogen production capacity to multi-tons per day by 2026, addressing key challenges in hydrogen transport and scalability.
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Spain, H2SITE focuses on solving the hydrogen transport problem by developing proprietary membrane reactor technology. This innovation separates hydrogen from gas streams and easily transportable molecules such as ammonia or methanol, delivering fuel cell purity hydrogen. The company’s reactors and separators are integral to building a scalable, efficient, and low-carbon hydrogen economy, providing innovative solutions to hydrogen transportation for industrial and energy applications.
To date, H2SITE has executed 15 projects across Western Europe and is now advancing large-scale hydrogen infrastructure in North America, the EU, and Asia Pacific. The funds will also support hydrogen separation for diverse markets, including ammonia cracking, natural hydrogen production in the U.S., and maritime decarbonization.
Andrés Galnares, Founder and CEO of H2SITE, highlighted the strategic importance of the new investment:
“For our third funding round, we have assembled a consortium of strategic and financial partners who deeply understand the challenges of scaling production, hydrogen deployment timelines, and market demand. This collective expertise and support will empower us to drive growth and execute large-scale infrastructure projects over the next thirty-six months, with a focus on ammonia cracking and hydrogen separation.”
The Series B funding round was co-led by Hy24 and SC Net Zero Ventures. Additional participants include Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Enagas Emprende, Equinor Ventures, Exergon, Ezten, and MassMutual Ventures.
Hy24, the world’s leading low-carbon hydrogen pure-play investment manager, emphasized the importance of H2SITE’s technology.
Guillaume Lesueur, Managing Director of Hy24, stated:
“H2SITE has developed an innovative and efficient purification technology that serves a wide range of markets across the hydrogen supply chain. This versatility, combined with the team’s extensive industrial expertise, aligns with the strategic objectives of Hy24’s Clean Hydrogen Equipment Fund: supporting breakthrough equipment providers and scalable technologies.”
With this funding, H2SITE is positioned to become a key player in developing a reliable and scalable hydrogen infrastructure, accelerating the global shift toward a low-carbon economy.
