Green technology company Envision has expanded its Sustainable Aviation Fuel certificate (SAFc) programme internationally for the first time, providing environmental attributes corresponding to 10 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions reductions at the Global Citizen NOW: Perth summit in Australia. Announced on 29 October 2026, the initiative was undertaken as part of Envision's role as the event's Sustainability Partner, introducing a certificate-based approach to supporting aviation decarbonisation within the sustainability strategies of international conferences and events.
The SAF certificates are linked to the actual production and use of sustainable aviation fuel, with the associated environmental attributes recorded and retired through a global registry to support transparency and traceability. This approach allows organisations to support the environmental benefits of SAF without requiring the fuel to be physically supplied to the aircraft used by event participants. Certificate retirement is intended to prevent the same environmental attributes from being claimed repeatedly. However, the 10-tonne figure reflects emissions-reduction attributes associated with SAF use, not verified reductions in the summit's direct travel emissions.

The Perth initiative builds on Envision's earlier application of SAF certificates at the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade in Xiamen in September 2026. That project showed how certificate-based mechanisms could help address aviation-related emissions from large conferences. The international expansion comes as businesses and event organisers explore ways to manage travel-related emissions while supporting investment in lower-carbon aviation fuels.
Alongside the certificate initiative, Envision participated in discussions on clean energy investment, industrial decarbonisation and sustainable economic development at Global Citizen NOW: Perth. Co-hosted by Global Citizen and the Government of Western Australia ahead of COP31, the summit brought together representatives from governments, businesses, philanthropic organisations and First Nations communities. Envision also joined investment discussions on Western Australia's potential role in emerging clean energy industries.
Bella Zhang, Head of Global SAF at Envision, said, "Envision will continue to explore the application of green fuels across aviation and international events, foster collaboration throughout the green fuel value chain, and support aviation's low-carbon transition through transparent, traceable environmental attribute management." The initiative demonstrates a potential application of SAF certificates in corporate and event sustainability programmes, although its wider impact will depend on credible lifecycle emissions calculations, transparent certificate retirement and increased sustainable aviation fuel production.
