Simon Tilling brings broad experience across UK environmental law, advising on areas that include chemicals and product standards regulation, enforcement and criminal defence, regulatory investigations, appeals, tribunal proceedings, judicial review, and environmental civil claims. He is dual-qualified in England and Wales and in Scotland, allowing him to advise clients across multiple UK jurisdictions.

His return strengthens Burges Salmon’s ability to support clients facing complex regulatory challenges, particularly where environmental compliance, risk management, and sustainability objectives intersect.

In addition to his private practice background, Simon brings direct industry insight from his time in-house at Pennon Group PLC, where he worked on environmental issues at the forefront of the UK water sector. Leadership Beyond Client Work

Alongside his legal practice, Simon is a director and trustee of the UK Environmental Law Association, a charity dedicated to promoting knowledge and understanding of environmental law. Simon’s appointment marks a return to Burges Salmon, where he trained and qualified in 2006 and was promoted to partner in 2016.
