Brookfield has committed up to $1.1 billion to expedite Infinium’s production of ultra-low carbon eFuels. Infinium’s Project Roadrunner will focus on increasing sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) output, which reduces emissions by 90%. This partnership addresses the aviation industry's growing need for sustainable decarbonization solutions.
The investment includes $200 million for Project Roadrunner in West Texas, scheduled to begin commercial eSAF production in 2026, and $850 million for global eFuels expansion, marking Brookfield’s first direct investment in sustainable aviation fuel.
Infinium's eSAF, a flagship product, significantly lowers lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fuels, contributing to aviation sector decarbonization. “Brookfield is a tremendous partner, and we are thrilled to secure this additional capital as we scale eSAF production to meet the overwhelming demand from the aviation industry,” said Infinium CEO Robert Schuetzle.
Additionally, the facility will produce eNaphtha for plastics manufacturing and eDiesel for sectors like trucking and maritime, which are more challenging to electrify.
Brookfield Managing Partner Jehangir Vevaina noted, "Our investment is structured to provide the capital Infinium needs to accelerate the production of sustainable aviation fuels to meet the growing demand from corporate customers."
This partnership, supported by existing investor Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, who previously committed $75 million to the project, strengthens Infinium’s role in decarbonizing the global supply chain. Schuetzle added, “Our investors continue to back Infinium’s potential, as eFuels are key to addressing the pressing need for supply chain decarbonization.”
