Areim Secures €450 Million to Expand Sustainable Data Centers in the Nordics

Areim has raised €450 million, boosting its sustainable data center fund to €900 million. This investment will drive the expansion of EcoDataCenter, meeting the growing digital infrastructure demand.

Swedish fund manager Areim has successfully secured €450 million in additional funding for its Areim DC Fund, pushing its total capital to €900 million. The oversubscribed raise attracted strong interest from both Nordic and international institutional investors, broadening Areim’s investor base and reinforcing its position in the sustainable data center market.

Fueling Growth Amid Surging Digital Demand

The demand for sustainable data centers is accelerating as digitalization and AI drive exponential data growth. Areim’s latest funding round will fuel the expansion of EcoDataCenter, a key player in the Nordic data center industry.

Strategic Expansion Through EcoDataCenter

Areim first invested in EcoDataCenter in 2018, recognizing its potential in the evolving digital infrastructure landscape. Since then, the fund manager has acquired full ownership of the company through the Areim DC Fund.

Leif Andersson, founder of Areim and Chairman of EcoDataCenter, highlighted the crucial role of data centers in today’s digital economy:

"When we first invested in EcoDataCenter, we saw the inherent potential in sustainable data centers to meet the rising demand for digital infrastructure. Data centers now form fundamental building blocks of this infrastructure, regardless of the data loads’ origins and use."

Legal Counsel and Market Leadership

Legal firm Andulf Advokat advised Areim on this capital raise, ensuring a smooth investment process.

With over €1.2 billion in equity, debt, and bond capital raised in the past two years, Areim has solidified its leadership in the Nordic data center market. This latest funding allows the company to scale operations and meet the increasing demands of AI-driven and digital services.
