Dutch pension asset manager APG has committed €400 million to a Strategic Managed Account (SMA) with infrastructure investment firm Equitix, establishing a new partnership to finance essential infrastructure across the United Kingdom and continental Europe. Announced on 30 October 2026, the agreement was made on behalf of Dutch pension fund ABP. APG is also considering an additional €100 million investment in the Equitix Infrastructure Growth Fund, subject to finalising the relevant arrangements, which could bring the total partnership value to €500 million.
The investment strategy will focus on infrastructure assets across sectors including railway rolling stock, offshore electricity transmission and water infrastructure. Selected investments will support long-term sustainability objectives, including the energy transition, infrastructure resilience and access to essential services. The Strategic Managed Account will provide APG with access to investment opportunities sourced and managed by Equitix, drawing on the firm's established European network and local infrastructure expertise.

The agreement marks APG's first investment partnership with Equitix and forms part of its long-term infrastructure investment strategy for ABP. Arjan Reinders, Head of Infrastructure Europe at APG, said, "Through this partnership with Equitix, we are creating a tailored platform to invest in essential infrastructure across the UK and Europe on behalf of ABP." The arrangement is intended to broaden APG's access to infrastructure investments aligned with its financial and sustainability objectives.
Hugh Crossley, Chief Executive Officer of Equitix, said the partnership would strengthen the firm's ability to identify investments that support economic growth, the energy transition, and local communities. The announcement follows Equitix's expansion of its European operations, including the opening of an office in Amsterdam. While the €400 million SMA commitment is confirmed, the additional €100 million remains under consideration. The partners have not disclosed specific investment projects, deployment timelines or quantified environmental impact targets.
