Andhra Pradesh launches the AP Integrated Clean Energy Policy, targeting Rs 10 lakh crore in investments for renewable energy by 2047, aiming for net zero emissions and creating 7,50,000 jobs.
Andhra Pradesh has launched the AP Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy, aiming to attract Rs 10 lakh crore in investments for solar, wind, and round-the-clock renewable energy projects, with a goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2047. The policy is expected to create 7,50,000 jobs through direct and indirect employment.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu unveiled the policy, which includes incentives such as concessional land leases, power subsidies, and waived duties. The state aims to harness its vast renewable energy potential, including 78.5 gigawatts (GW) of solar, 35 GW of wind, and 22 GW of pumped storage capacity, along with 1.5 million tonnes of green hydrogen production annually.
The ICE Policy also supports cleantech manufacturing, targeting 25-30 GW of capacity, and plans to establish a University for Green Energy and Circular Economy, as well as a Clean Energy Knowledge & Skill Development Center. The New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) will facilitate the implementation of projects, ensuring a smooth investment process.
This policy marks a significant step for Andhra Pradesh in enhancing its renewable energy sector and attracting substantial investments over the next five years.
