Anaergia Signs C$36M Agreement for Hungary Waste-to-Energy Plant

Anaergia Signs C$36M Agreement for Hungary Waste-to-Energy Plant

Anaergia has signed a C$36 million technology and engineering agreement with TisVet, one of Hungary's largest duck and poultry producers, to supply an anaerobic digestion facility expected to process 122,000 tonnes of agricultural waste annually and generate 5 megawatts of electricity. The deal, signed through Anaergia's subsidiary Anaergia Srl and subject to conditions precedent, marks the company's first major Hungarian project in more than a decade and is expected to reach full operation in the second half of 2028. It is also among the first projects developed under Hungary's new government support scheme for anaerobic digestion facilities.

The facility will incorporate Anaergia's proprietary feeding system along with its mixing and dewatering technologies, converting poultry farm residues into renewable electricity rather than sending the agricultural waste to landfill or storage. The project expands Anaergia's commercial footprint in Europe and represents a return to a market the Toronto and Milan-listed company has not pursued at this scale in years. Anaergia trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under ANRG and on the OTCQX under ANRGF.

For TisVet, the plant addresses waste management from its poultry operations while adding a renewable power source tied directly to its agricultural output. The company is among Hungary's largest producers in the sector, and the facility is designed to process residues generated on an ongoing basis from that production rather than from a single one-time waste stream.

"This project represents a defining moment for agricultural waste management in Hungary," said László Zsemberi, development manager of TisVet. "Working with Anaergia brings proven technological solutions to convert our agricultural residues into clean energy, supporting sustainable poultry production in Hungary."
