The Climate Project Explorer, launched at COP29, consolidates data from 4,000 climate projects funded by four major climate funds. With AI-driven tools, it enhances access to climate finance, promoting transparency and collaboration.
At COP29, the Multilateral Climate Funds (MCFs), including the Green Climate Fund, Adaptation Fund, Climate Investment Funds, and Global Environment Facility, unveiled the Climate Project Explorer. This AI-powered platform centralizes data from nearly 4,000 climate projects, enhancing transparency and access to climate finance.
Developed with Climate Policy Radar, the tool aggregates project details, including descriptions, proposals, and performance reports, into a single searchable database. Users can explore projects by location, sector, funding type, and associated climate fund, thanks to advanced AI-enabled search and filtering capabilities.
The Climate Project Explorer targets a broad audience, including governments, NGOs, researchers, civil society, and private-sector players, fostering collaboration and sharing of best practices. By harmonizing access to climate finance data, it aims to streamline project development and amplify the impact of climate funds.
This initiative underscores the strategic goal of the MCFs to enhance coherence in the global climate finance architecture. Future updates to the platform will incorporate policies and additional information to further aid knowledge sharing and project development.
With its launch, the Climate Project Explorer sets a benchmark in leveraging technology to bolster climate action, particularly in developing countries seeking to meet climate goals.
